Hand Spun 2-ply wool

April 20th, 2008 · No Comments

I know these are not perfect, but I luuuurrve them. Need to find a thing called a niddy-noddy in order to set the twist and make a skein. Oh, and I don’t know how to count the wraps or calculate yardage. Anyone? Anyone? Well, I plan to go to a “spin night” at the local yarn shop, so maybe someone will be kind enough to give me some tips on all that.

Anyway, here are the photos (all can be clicked to see larger images for more detail):

This is 4.6 oz of a shetland and aplaca blend with copper sparkle threads mixed in. Got this at the local yarn shop and it came from a local farm.

Here’s what I made from the raw wool that came with the wheel. At first I tried to mix in angora, that’s what the white bits are, but it was too hard. I’ll try again, though, as I’m getting the idea of it.

I hope there’s enough in both of these to at least make scarves!
