Ummmmm. So, I like spinning as much as I thought I was going to. And I’m actually getting the hang of it. Today I learned to ply two strands together, for which I am totally, geekily proud of myself. But this presents a problem, because fiber can be expensive and this is an awful lot of fun.
The woman who sold me the wheel gave me some washed wool, so I hand-carded it and then used that for more practice. This is when I really started figure out how to not over-twist the strands.
It’s not perfect, but it’s a LOT better than my first few attempts. This is just a single strand, I’ll take photos of the two-ply later.
Oh, the first attempts? Here’s one:
Heh. See the difference? Yes, I am an idiot for teaching myself with such beautiful, hand-dyed wool, but I couldn’t resist the siren song of these colors. Well, I learned my lesson and I’m making cute little slubby scarves with it anyway.
So, that’s my current status report on the spinning… you know you have a problem when you start eying the dryer lint & wonder if it will spin up. (Just kidding! No, really, just kidding! There’s a lot of cat fur around here, on the other hand…)
