Progress for days 2 & 3…
I took the drop spindle to a party on the 4th. My technique hasn’t improved much from last year, and here are my fug results:

I can’t join in this year, as I’ve never spun! But I plan on checking your blog (now that I’ve found it) as I recently acquired some alpaca and I’m clueless about it. :)

Alpaca is lovely! If you think you would like to learn to spin, I can point you in a few directions. Alternatively, there are places that will process fiber into yarn for you, if you think you might not be into spinning it up yourself. :-)
I do want to learn… I just purchased my first drop spindle today, as a matter of fact. Very excited about it! So if you have tips, I’d love to hear them!
I don’t have carders or anything… do I need them with alpaca? I’ve heard conflicting opinions.
