I’ve been feeling re-energized about my Etsy shop lately, and have been working towards a few new and exciting things…

  • I’m planning to add hand-dyed, commercially spun yarn to the shop (like the yellow and the dusky violet I shared in earlier posts). I’ll have several up in the shop in the next week, and plan to add more as time allows.
  •

  • This coming Monday-Wednesday, June 6-8, 2011, I’ll be participating in an online fiber community summer sale. Everything in the Wandering Wolf Etsy shop will be 20% off when shoppers use the coupon code COMMUNITY. Following the link to the sale information will take you to a list of all participating vendors. All are offering discounts or free shipping.
  •

  • I started up a Facebook page for Wandering Wolf shop & sale updates, news of events and so forth. It’s very small right now and just getting started, but I would love to have anyone interested join the page (by clicking the “like” button).
  •

  • Next Saturday, July 11th, I’ll be at the Albany Farmers Market participating in World Wide Knit in Public Day. Our event hasn’t been listed up on their site yet, Our event is listed here on the WWKiP website… we’ll be in a booth at the Farmers Market which is at 4th and Ellsworth in downtown Albany. The hours are 9am-1pm, and we’ll have a few chairs and some supplies to play with. We welcome knitters, crocheters, and if there is room, spinning wheels. Please bring your own chair if you can.
  •

  • In July, my cool little town has a downtown sidewalk sale event called “Crazy Daze”, and this year, they are asking vendors to participate. I’ll be there Friday night and all day Saturday (July 8-9), along with my friend Megan of
La Petite Vie. So excited! There might even be room for me to bring my antique spinning wheel and get some people interested in spinning!
  •

  • And, finally… last but not least for local friends, there is a display up in the Footwise, Corvallis store window, featuring several of my favorite local Etsy artists. Members of the Corvallis Etsy team did a great job setting this up! I have some yarn and one of my crocheted hats in the window. Can’t wait to go take a look at how it all turned out.

I think that’s all the news for now. Yikes… I better get off the couch and get some work done!

I wanted to write a post to say greetings to many new visitors! The old blog here has recently had some great traffic coming from Craftgawker, Craftgossip, and Pinterest. Thanks for your interest… I hope you’ll decide to come by again and please feel free to comment!

I decided to try out a new theme here. I don’t usually go for dark backgrounds, but I do like what this grey does for photos. What do you think of the white text? Not sure how long I’ll keep it this way, but if anyone has a strong reaction to it either way, let me know.

The other day, when I did the crock pot yarn dyeing, I did a second skein in dusky violet. Here are the results!

Dancing Toes - Dusky Violet

The yarn is a blend of alpaca, superwash merino, and nylon… soooo soft. This one went up in the shop, though it’s tempting to just add it to the stash!

I might have mentioned before how much I love this color combination…

For some reason, it’s always like 11pm when I decide to make a treasury on Etsy, and then I stay up way too late finishing them. I just love the colors in this one, and I found a few local (to me) sellers to feature:

This is a cool little widget from Craft Cult!

Last week, a friend sent me a message on Facebook and asked if I’d make her a custom cloche hat to go with a green jacket that she has. She’s in California, so we relied on photos of the jacket and I went in search of yarn.

I found some superwash Cascade 220 and made this hat in “Walnut Heather” and “Apple Green”. The button is coconut.

I mailed it off a few days ago, and now I’m anxiously waiting to hear if the color is complementary to the jacket and the hat fits!  ::fingers crossed::

In other news, I’m looking forward to receiving my first set of business cards from MOO. I went with the MiniCards and made two variations (color-wise) of this design:

moo

I can spend hours on the MOO site or on Flickr looking at what people have done with their business cards… they’re so appealing and clever. The back of my card has my shop url and my e-mail address, and I’ll use them as business cards and product tags.

I’m realizing that I never blogged about my kick-ass logo! Negligence! My friend Santiago Uceda created this bit of awesomeness and he made it so that I can customize it to whatever application I need, be it Etsy banner, business cards, avatar… I love it.

Well, I’ve got some cheery yellow Merino on the wheel today that is calling my name, so… I’m off. Enjoy your weekends!

So, I’m sitting here getting ready to write this post, and I’m looking at the calendar to see that a week and a half has passed since my last post and I can’t remember what I did last week. Well, Dennis had been on vacation the week before, so I must have been catching up on very exciting tasks like laundry and cleaning the kitchen and grocery shopping.

Which kind of explains why I don’t remember what I did last week. Whoo!

I continued to take photos every day. I’m not sure if I will actually be able to keep to the idea of taking every photo with the camera in the phone, but it’s certainly freeing to allow myself that leeway. Not to have to carry the Nikon around everywhere, just in case. The photos aren’t print-worthy, but that’s not the goal of the project for me.

Some shots from September, 2010

I feel like time goes by so quickly lately… just a complete blur. I was kind of hoping that a photo-a-day would slow things down a bit, allow me to mark the passage of each day. It’s kind of working. I remember the photos from last week, but not the chores. Ha!

One thing that I did accomplish last week is starting up a blog for the newly formed Willamette Valley Etsy Team, which is very exciting. We’re not official on Etsy yet because they’re rolling out some new program for teams and aren’t setting up new ones until that goes live — but we’re getting ourselves organized in real life, regardless. When the new program starts on Etsy, we’ll be ready to join up. So, if you’re reading this and you’re in the WV and you have an Etsy shop, please join us!

Is it obnoxious to say “the WV”? I kind of feel like it may be.

The other big thing I have going on is that I started a micro-business class through Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services. The first class was this week and I had to introduce myself in front of 20 or so strangers which was completely scary and I sounded like a fool. But nobody threw anything at me, so I take that as a good sign and am looking forward to learning how to write a business plan!

And now… I must be off. My feet are frozen and I have to brush my hair. Whoo, party!

At LAST! I finally have a couple of things to add to the Etsy shop. This is hand-dyed fingering weight sock yarn. Clicking on the photos will take you to the listings:

peppermint twist 1

Water Lily 2

I found this undyed sock yarn at the Sock Summit (yes, really) up in Portland this weekend. If these do well, I may add this line to my shop in addition to the hand-spun.
