Finally!
Back in August, I posted that I’d started this pattern & was determined to finish it. Well… yeah… That didn’t happen. (Shocking, I know.) I just didn’t like the project with that yarn and ended up setting it aside. But then I found this Dream in Color Baby and thought it would be perfect for finally getting back to the pattern.
The pattern is called The Age of Brass and Steam Kerchief, and is free on Ravelry. The yarn is much thinner than suggested by the pattern writer, so mine is pretty small… don’t mind, though, since I’ll just be wrapping it around my neck and not trying to wear it as a shawl or anything.
(One of my few finished knitted items… yay!)
Here’s an older project from a couple of years ago. The yarn is Malabrigo lace & the pattern came from a free dishcloth pattern that I just altered slightly to make into a scarf:
Sadly, at some point the scarf got snagged on something and developed a nasty tear. This stitch is so nice, though, I need to make another one soon.
Ye gods, I love Malabrigo lace yarn. I started this project thinking to make a scarf. Came up with a nice little stitch motif and went to work, but it was soooo booooring to work on. I don’t know why this should be boring when other things aren’t so much, but I just didn’t like working on it.
So, it decided to be a cowl, what can I say? I am actually quite pleased with it!
Oh, hellloooo. Where have I been for a month? I don’t exactly… know… Working, I guess. We’ve been doing some organizing at home and I finally pulled out these tablecloths that Mama Wolf brought us on one of her visits. I’d never looked too closely at them. This one fits our table perfectly:
I’m thinking maybe this is Cluny lace, but I’m not positive. These belonged to Mama Wolf’s great aunt and uncle and she was given them sometime in the 60s when her great aunt passed away. I can’t tell when this was made, either, but am figuring it was the 30s or 40s… or before? I’m going to see if I can find some book of patterns and identify this any further.
