It’s cold in here!
We think Marcus is an American Bombay… according to the Wikipedia article for the breed, they are heat seekers. He certainly does seem to find the warmest spots in the room.
So I was just sitting here in the living room at about 5:50 this morning and I hear this NOISE outside. I thought one of the neighbor cats was in a fight or… I don’t know. Miley started growling, Marcus was all “what was that”, and the stray cat who decided to live on our deck was running around in circles and looking off into the distance.
Since it was light enough to open the chicken coop, I went outside and heard a honking/squawking noise overhead, looked up, and three great blue herons flew past directly above me. I yelped a little “squeee!”, because that was awesome, and then I let the girls out.
The herons are across the road near the river now… and suddenly some of the tortured-cow noises I hear coming from that direction make perfect sense. Herons.
This scale model replica of a carousel can be found in the little museum at The Brass Ring in Albany.
These sweet flowers are in big blue pots on my front porch. I found the first tulip in our yard today — not quite open, but any minute now. The magnolia tree is covered in pink blossoms, the daffodils and forsythia have been giving us beautiful yellow color all over the yard for a few weeks now, and pink and purple hyacinth have joined them.
Welcome spring!
We love the time change. I realize there are people who hate it… sorry… but we love the extra hours of daylight after the workday is over.
The chickens, well, I think the chickens need a whole other post of their own. They’re crazy.
Spent a perfect Sunday afternoon out at the Finley Wildlife Refuge last weekend.
