Four Years

We’ve been living in Oregon four years as of today. Still feels like home!

Editing… I wanted to add this photo, taken just now:

Went to the Oregon Garden in Silverton yesterday with my friend Brooke. Didn’t get many photos, but thought this one was kind of cool.

Fountain!

I think this rain fountain was the highlight of the day, though!

Cherries from our very own tree — whee!

Van Cherries

So far, one of the more successful of our backyard ventures, food-wise. These are Van cherries and right now this batch is being baked into a clafoutis.

Update: baking results!

Scale Model Carousel (Tiny World V)

This scale model replica of a carousel can be found in the little museum at The Brass Ring in Albany.

I was looking through Jeff’s photos today because I needed an underwater shot for a work-related blog. I was struck by this image and asked him if I could post it here. He said he fell in love with shooting in black and white on this particular trip to Mexico, and this shot right here… this one inspires me.

See more of Jeff’s work at 130Down Photography, and check out his blog (about diving and motorcycles).

Photo woes

October is the month of The Kids… we have four birthdays to celebrate this month. Last weekend our friend Gabe turned four and had a raucous party over at Timberhill Athletic Club. It was brilliant. They put all the kids onto a basketball court with little rolling seats and basketballs and cones and just let them run around and scream for a couple of hours. Hooray for being four!

Sunday we headed down to Harrisburg, to Detering Orchards, for Apple Days & the pumpkin patch. I spent time photographing Veronica (above), who is turning two this week. And may I just say, my photo skills — what skills I had, anyway — have TANKED. All my photos from Sunday, while sort of okay for web posting, are a total mess at higher resolutions. Blurry in all the wrong places… so frustrating because I had some cute shots, too. I think it’s time to actually take that class I keep talking about. I don’t want to keep losing whole days to lame shooting.
